TNC Forum #11 – GOSPEL, LAW, GRACE AND REPENTANCE

When I was a young pastor in New England, there was a saying that at first puzzled me:

“You cannot understand the Gospel if you do not know the Law.”

I have pondered that often, over the years, and thought perhaps you would be willing to ponder it with me.

 
A slightly less confusing comment, but I suspect related:

“Grace and mercy without repentance is a recipe for stagnation.”

(Actually, some said “damnation” rather than “stagnation,” but I thought we would keep it more polite.) Any comments?
